Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 19 May 2025 · Thip Wela, Phuket, Thailand
These terms describe the working arrangement between you and Thip Wela. They are written to be plain and readable — if any part is unclear, please ask before leaving your watch with us.
These Terms and Conditions apply when you bring a watch or timepiece to Thip Wela for assessment, service, repair, or restoration, or when you contact us through our website. By leaving a watch with us, or by submitting an enquiry, you agree to the terms set out below. These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand.
1. Our service commitment
Thip Wela provides watch repair and care services from our workshop at 18 Phang Nga Road, Talat Yai, Phuket 83000. All work is carried out by, or under the direct supervision of, a qualified watchmaker on our team.
Before any work begins, we will provide a written or verbal summary of what we intend to do, and a clear cost indication. Nothing proceeds without your agreement. If, during the course of a service, we discover additional work that would materially change the scope or cost, we will contact you before continuing.
2. Assessment and quotation
An initial assessment is provided without charge in most cases. Following assessment, we will give you a cost estimate for the proposed work. This estimate is based on our inspection at the time and represents our best reading of the work required. The final cost will not exceed this estimate without your prior agreement, unless unforeseen issues are discovered during disassembly that could not have been identified at the surface.
If you choose not to proceed after assessment, the watch will be returned to you as received. If assessment has required partial disassembly (for example, to inspect a movement), a small assessment fee may apply — we will inform you of this in advance.
3. Leaving a watch with us
When you leave a timepiece with us, we will record its condition and the agreed scope of work. You will receive a job receipt noting the watch description, any pre-existing marks or damage, and the expected completion period. Please review this receipt carefully when it is issued and tell us immediately if anything is not recorded correctly.
We ask that you let us know of any known history relevant to the service — prior repairs, water exposure, drops, or servicing by other workshops. This helps us work more accurately and safely.
4. Turnaround and collection
We will give you an estimated completion period at the time of drop-off. This is an estimate, not a binding deadline. Some services — particularly restoration or complex movement work — require time that cannot always be predicted precisely. If a delay arises, we will contact you as soon as it becomes clear.
Once your watch is ready, we will notify you by the contact method you provided. We ask that you collect within 30 days of notification. After 90 days of uncollected notices without a response from you, Thip Wela reserves the right to charge a storage fee. Watches unclaimed after 12 months, despite reasonable contact attempts, may be dealt with in accordance with Thai law.
5. Payment
Payment is due on collection of the watch. We accept cash in Thai Baht and major credit or debit cards. Payment confirms your acceptance of the work completed and its cost.
If an advance deposit is required for high-value work or parts procurement, we will discuss this with you before it is due. Deposits are non-refundable if work has already commenced, unless the fault for cancellation lies with Thip Wela.
6. Parts and materials
Where replacement parts are needed, we will use manufacturer-supplied parts where available and practical. In cases where original manufacturer parts are no longer in supply, we will use quality aftermarket components and inform you of this before proceeding. We will always seek your agreement before fitting any part that meaningfully affects the character or value of the watch.
Any parts removed from your watch during service remain your property. If you wish to retain them, please request this at drop-off and we will keep them for you to collect alongside your watch.
7. Service warranty
We stand behind the work we carry out. If a fault arises directly from our service within six months of collection — for example, a regulation issue re-emerging or a seal failure related to our water-resistance work — we will investigate and, if the fault is ours, correct it at no additional charge.
This applies to the specific work carried out. It does not apply to:
- Pre-existing conditions noted at the time of service
- Damage caused by accident, misuse, or water exposure beyond the level tested
- Normal wear and drift that falls within expected tolerances
- Work carried out subsequently by another party
To raise a service concern, contact us at the address or phone number at the bottom of this page within the six-month period. We will arrange for you to bring the watch in for review.
8. Our care for your watch
We treat every watch in our care as we would treat our own. Your timepiece will be handled with care, stored securely when not on the bench, and returned in the condition agreed — cleaned and, where the service scope includes it, with any cosmetic work completed.
In the rare event that damage occurs to your watch while in our care, we will inform you honestly and discuss fair resolution. Our liability in such cases is limited to the cost of restoring the watch to the condition in which it was received, up to its reasonable market value at the time of service.
9. Your responsibilities
We ask that you:
- Provide accurate information about the watch and its history
- Collect your watch within the timeframe noted in Section 4
- Keep us informed of any changes to your contact details while a watch is with us
- Let us know promptly if you have concerns about the work — early communication leads to the best outcomes
10. Website use
The Thip Wela website is provided for information and enquiry purposes. Content is updated periodically but should not be taken as a technical guide or service manual. Prices and service descriptions on the website are indicative; final costs are confirmed after assessment.
The contact form on our website is not a secure channel for sharing sensitive personal data (such as passport or bank details). Please use ordinary correspondence for any such matters.
11. Intellectual property
All text, photography, and design on this website is the property of Thip Wela or used under licence. It may not be reproduced, adapted, or redistributed without written permission. Watch brands and model names referenced on this site are trademarks of their respective manufacturers; Thip Wela has no affiliation with those manufacturers unless stated.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Thai law, Thip Wela's liability arising from any service or website use is limited to the value of the service fee paid. We are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses — for example, loss of enjoyment or financial loss arising from a watch being unavailable during service.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for negligence causing personal injury, or for fraud.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects any revision. The terms that apply to a particular service are those in effect on the date you leave your watch with us.
14. Contact and disputes
If you have any concern about our service or these terms, please contact us first. We would rather resolve any issue directly and calmly than through formal channels.
